Roof Live Load


The roof live load is calculated in accordance with EN 1991-1-1 (Eurocode 1): Actions on structures – Part 1-1: General actions – Densities, self-weight, imposed loads for buildings [1]. 

Roofs are classified by accessibility into three categories, as defined in Table 6.9 (Categorization of roofs) [1].


For buildings modeled in MkaPEB, the roof loaded area is assumed to be Category H [1]; therefore, MkaPEB by default imposes an imposed roof load of qk=0.4 kN/m2.


According to Note 4 (see figure below), β€œOn roofs (particularly for Category H roofs), imposed loads need not be applied in combination with either snow loads and/or wind actions.” [1]. MkaPEB accounts for this note when generating load combinations.
